Albany State, powered by a defense that held Lincoln-Missouri scoreless in the second half, defeated the Blue Tigers 30-10.
Albany State’s Marquez Thomas’ interception set the Golden Rams’ offense on the Lincoln 22-yard line. ASU would take advantage of the turnover on a Kelan Fraise 1 yard touchdown run. The PAT was blocked, leaving the score 6-0. Lincoln-Missouri would get on the board in the second quarter off Harold Lacy’s 1 yard run; the extra point was good, giving the Blue Tigers a 7-6 lead. Albany State would reclaim the lead after a 9 play, 50 yard drive ended in a 40-yard Gabriel Ballinas field goal. Lincoln kicked a 40-yard field goal of their own late in the second quarter, giving them a 10-9 lead at the end of the first half.
The Blue Tigers turned the ball over two plays into the second half when Nick Scott forced a fumble recovered by Anfernee Simmons. Four plays later, Chancellor Johnson would score on a 6-yard run, following the PAT, Albany State was up 16-10. After forcing a Blue Tigers’ three-and-out on their next drive, Albany State only needed four plays to go 55 yards, scoring on MKinley Habersham’s 38 yard run. The Golden Rams were now up 23-10.
Albany State closed out the scoring on Johnson’s 19-yard touchdown pass to Chris Hunt.
The Blue Tigers return home to host Missouri S&T. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 P.M. CST. The Golden Rams host Morehouse College for Homecoming. The game is Saturday, October 14 with a kickoff time of 2 P.M. EST
